Non-matching Bridesmaid Dresses

In the Philippines often the couple getting married provides for the clothes of the entire bridal party, especially the bridesmaid dresses. Usually, matching dresses are custom-made. They can be uniform, or of the same fabric and color but of different styles:
In some cases, to save some money, couples provide the fabric and the bridesmaids take it to the dressmakers of their choice. They pay for their own dresses to be made.
It is fortunate that my grandmother is a seamstress so when my brother got married recently, all of the bridesmaids’ dresses were made by her:
However, it is not necessary that bridesmaid dresses match. In fact, by looking at the pictures below, you can see that non-matching, possibly store-bought dresses look just as great!
Just assign a color scheme to your bridesmaids and let them buy their own. Another good thing is that these bridesmaids can wear their dresses on other occasions as well. The dress I wore on my brother’s wedding will probably never get worn again.
Personally I fancy making my future bridesmaids dress up in little black dresses, or blood-red cocktail dresses. They can buy their own so they can pick out what they feel comfortable in.
But if you’re still interested in affordable, custom-made dresses for your bridesmaids, my grandma still makes ‘em! Contact me at katrina.carneo@yahoo.com .
